It all started when Simon Curtiss wrote Chalkhills about a (sadly, now defunct) Web site dedicated to the unfinished Beach Boys album Smile. This excellent site contained .MP3 files from various sources, a suggested track ordering as the album Might Have Been, and loads of other cool information.

I downloaded these files and loved 'em... on my Sun workstation. It's a great workstation but doesn't quite fit in my car. But it does have a CD burner. So the question is: how do you make an audio CD from .MP3s? I figured it out. (If anyone cares, the gory details are here.)

I mentioned this on Chalkhills and offered to make copies. This turned into yet another fun project, trying to keep things straight. Since some folks don't believe "Good Vibrations" belongs on Smile (eg. Brian Wilson), I offered the disks with GV optionally located at the start, instead of the track 9 the Smile site uses. However I didn't do any sort of booklet.

Dan Wiencek has now addressed this shortcoming with an absolutely lovely pair of booklets containing much of the detailed Smile site information!

Get Adobe Acrobat Reader Smile booklet, Good Vibrations as track 1 (780961 bytes)
Get Adobe Acrobat Reader Smile booklet, Good Vibrations as track 9 (780773 bytes)

These include instructions and even a jewelcase insert. Thanks, Dan!
